Milestones

The production of systems for food processing in the REICH company started back in 1893. Karl Reich, the grandfather of Wolfgang Reich, was already very creative and introduced some innovations to the meat trade.

Since the company founding by Karl Reich in 1893, the enterprise has developed over four generations from a regionally active boiler manufacturer into a global specialist for highly modern climate-controlled and smoking systems. This makes REICH the world's oldest name with the richest tradition in the smoking system technology industry.

REICH stopped its production to the greatest extent possible during the Second World War. But as early as 1948 the brothers REICH restarted their production of cooking and smoking systems. The development of revolutionary steaming methods followed in the early 1960s and the first computerised universal unit was launched at the end of the 1970s.

REICH had already started its research and testing of a new smoke generation process in the 1960s; It is known as the friction smoke process. Wolfgang Reich, who joined the REICH enterprise in 1975, was awarded the patent in 1982 for the improved pneumatic friction smoke generator, which today is a fundamental support product for the company.

1930 Patent first removable and turnable smoke unit

In the 1930s REICH developed the first removable and rotatable smoke unit, a hanging track system for thermal smoke chambers, and obtained a patent for it.

The Second World War then interrupted further developments until 1948.
